Review by Staff SGT, Joseph Lupoli:Well, the eyepiece doesn’t twist up or down, meaning my naked eyeball comes dangerously close to touching the ocular lens.So I lengthened the eyepiece by a 1/4 inch, using several narrow layers of high-stick military cloth camo tape, which I folded over the eyepiece circumference. Problem solved!As for the quality and sturdiness of this inexpensive monocular, it is far, far better than I expected. Although the ocular lens is small in diameter, the field of view is still fairly wide. This indicates that its BAK 4 prism is not garbage, as are most Chinese-made BAK 4, 7, and 10 prisms are, especially at this price point.This monocular is featherweight, but quite hardy, with a nice grippy rubber coating. And it is truly 8 power as claimed. Also, I’m very happy to note that there’s very little object shake, despite its power.The focus ring works perfectly; neither too tight nor too loose. And once I focus on something, regardless of distance, the image is crisp and very clear. Also, there is no blur along the lens edges.I bought this monocular strictly for recon and surveillance work. And for that purpose, this monocular does the job well.If you’re thinking about checking out babes on the beach or in the park with this thing, forget it. You would require a huge objective lens for that, which means the monocular itself would be huge, and it would stick out like a sore thumb. Then you might as well wear a T-shirt with big florescent letters that reads: “I AM A LOWLIFE PERVERT!” LOLAnyway, if you need to distinguish the good guys from the bad guys, this monocular is really great for that–or if you’re illegally stealth camping in a State Forest, and you need to identify and shadow Park Rangers from a distance in order to avoid having your location compromised, this is the monocular you want. Oops! You didn’t hear that from me.
