In buying this the week before i left for a 3 wk European trip, I was concerned although i had previously owned a similar Nikon. I found this much easier to make the choice between the variety of photo types and exposures.I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of photos that i took with near or maximum closeness i.e. the Norwegian fjords. The photos are clear and bright.The only frustration i had was when the camera was off or asleep. It was not instantaneous in starting. I missed some shots i wanted when it didn’t awake from the ‘sleep mode’ as quickly as i anticipated.i used the laniard type cloth necklace we all get fir namebadge at metings/conventions so that i was ‘a tourist’ in having the camera securely hanging around my neck. I felt confident that i wouldn’t drop it as i might in using only the wristlet.

Well review readers , just so you know I am a 69 year old man that has had considerable experience in photography.And without getting into a bunch of confusing details the S3300 is a very good camera . I can be a very critical personon evaluating anything . However for the price of this camera you can not go wrong . 99 percent of the time settingeverything on automatic will give you very good results . But when you do want to it is surprisingly controlable also .Just take the time to familiarize yourself with the controls which is very easy to do and you will enjoy this little gem . The picture size is great; it had better be for 16mp. But, unless you’re outside in the sun the ISO seems to jump really high and you get a pretty grainy photo. If you’re taking pictures to print out as 5×8 or smaller then it’s not really a big deal. Otherwise, make sure you have some good lighting if you’re planning on blowing up the photo. There’s also a pretty mean shutter lag and sometimes the camera doesn’t want to take the picture. That really makes my wife mad when we’re trying to snap a photo of our 16 month old daughter and we miss that moment because of the delay. I’m sure it has something to do with the default settings but it looks for faces and when it can’t find them it starts acting weird. It’s not always this way; and for the most part it works well. Just don’t buy this camera expecting it to be the best one you’ve ever owned (unless it’s your first).
